Getting Around Town:
- Concierge will give directions to major attractions, maps available at front desk.

Public transportation is part of the RMV transportation system.
-The U-bahn (the Metro) - trams on 7 lines serving the center of the city - keep the final station or the color in mind to navigate the stations.
-The S-bahn - more extensive suburban rail network - serves the airport and the surrounding towns.
Night buses take over after 0130.
Tickets are dispensed from the RMV machines; use coins or notes; only issue tickets for immediate use. Instructions in multiple languages.

- Hotel has cafe area outside.
- Hotel restaurant is good and offers a discount
- Klosterhof - reasonable - walk
- Basseler Eck - German - reasonable - walk
- Irish Pub - close
- Pielok - German - inexpensive - long walk

Tipping:
- Service is typically included; a gratuity of 5%-10% (round up) for good service is appreciated.

Shopping Finds: Frankfurt is known for its Apple Wine. Check out the Apple Wine fests. (more on this later) "Stephano", near the Kaufhoff has upscale clothes at reasonable price (ala Banana Republic). Rieslings -world famous wines from this region.

What's On Around Town:
- Frankfurt Book Fair - October 14-18, 2009.
- Frankfurt Marathon - October 25, 2009
- Frankfurt Jazz Festival - October 29 - 31, 2009
- Christmas Market (Nov 25-Dec 22, 2009) starts in Old Town! It gets crowded - go during the week, during the day if possible.

Travel Time to the Hotel: 20 min.
Flight Time from IAD: 8 hours (+ or -)
Nearest ATM : easily accessible around town, in the train station and also on the street
Nearest Grocery: close - ask concierge, 10 minute walk
Closest Gym: There is a passable gym in the hotel.
Best Place to Run: Along the river - easy to get to and very pretty
Good Walks: Along the river - lovely
Easy Day Trips: The Rhine Cruise - must start early; Heidelberg -this city was not bombed during WWII- they have a beautiful castle which offers tours, up on the hillside. There is excellent train service all over Germany. (Thank you, Mary Ann from State!) Wiesbaden - inexpensive train ticket (45 min ride)and nice to go have dinner in old town.
Hotel Ammenities: Computer on 1st floor. No coffee maker in room, coffee and pastries available in crew room in the a.m., highspeed for a fee, complimentary drink in the bar, nice flat screen hd televisions, fridge, safe. English tv entertainment channel ITV3 on channel 27.
