Restaurants
We Like:
Geneva has more restaurants than New York City.

Shopping
Finds: Watches (we didn't say "deals", we said "finds"), Incredible array of chocolate. |
What
to See:
Old Town - main shopping streets and most of the museums. Rue de Rhone is the Rodeo Dr. of Geneva. Less expensive, trendier shops line the Grand Rue.
Saint Peter's Cathedral and the Chapel of the Maccabees, on the hill in Old Town. "Built between 1150 and 1230, has both Romanesque and Gothic Features, as well as a neoclassical monumental porch. Since 1536 and the advent of the Reformation, it has been one of the main places of worship of the Protestant Church of Geneva" - www.espace-saint-pierre.ch
See the Jet d'eau (fountain) out in the lake. |

Walks: walk to Old Town Area. Bring good walking shoes - some streets are cobblestone. |
| Easy
Day Trips: easily accessible days hikes - ask the concierge for details. "There is a mountain called "Saleve"; you take the cable car, or the "Telepherique" to the top. If you ask the concierge at the hotel he will have map and details, but basically you take the #8 bus from the Quai du Mont Blanc (main bridge to Old Town) to the end, then walk to the cable car. (There are signs, and you will see it.) It's about 17 Francs round trip, any level hiker can do it, but if you
take trail to the right - past the paraglider launch site, you will arrive at a nice open area with view of Geneva and a bar/restaurant. Bring a picnic because because I think it's cheaper. Last tram down is at 7pm, but might change seasonally. Use free pass for bus."- Matt DCASW -Bring your passport - it's just over the border! |
